The Dottie Dolly - Red Dolly Swimwear Part 1

Saturday 10 January 2015

When Summer comes around I love adding one or two new sets to my swimwear drawer, sometimes I buy months in advance and get so excited to wear it as soon as it heats up!

I have been aware of California based brand Red Dolly Swimwear for a few years now, I bought the white Marilyn swimsuit a few years ago and plan to blog that again soon. It has been great to work with the talented Heather and to blog this beautiful swimwear brand once again.

I couldn't resist The Dottie Swimsuit, I love blue and  red, so this swimsuit was a perfect choice, the colour of the fabric is so vibrant and really great quality. The swimsuits are made with soft, comfortable swimwear fabric (Stretch poly spandex and elastic) which makes it nice for swimming and sitting by the beach or pool for extended period of time. I love having fun and vibrant swimsuits as I live by so many beautiful beaches, it's nice to be both fashionable and comfortable in these vintage inspired pieces.

Red Dolly Swimwear is fully lined and you have the option of adding padded cups to your swimwear which is always a plus. Red Dolly Swimwear is made to order and is available in size small, medium, large and extra large (see full measurements on website). The Dottie swimsuit is also available as a bikini.

Red Dolly Swimwear has so many beautiful designs and fabrics to choose from, these hand made swimsuits are really special and made to last.

Part 1 of my interview with Heather, designer of Red Dolly Swimwear:

How did you get into fashion/vintage fashion?

I was introduced to sewing at a very young age. My Grandmother and great Grandmother were both worked in sewing factories before I was born. They kept their industrial machines, and I grew up watching them sew and make clothing and things for the house. I think that sparked something in me. I loved the fact that they could just make or mend something when they had the urge.

What sparked your interest in Swimwear design?
Honestly, I could not find a swimsuit that fit me well! After having my son I wanted more coverage. something Classy and still cute. I figured I'd try my hand at it, and I loved the way my first suit came out!

How did Red Dolly Swimwear Start and how has it grown (Red Dolly Swimwear for babies, girls and women)?
Red Dolly started, as I mentioned before due to the lack of swimsuits I could find that I liked. I went to school for Fashion design, but never had an interest in swimwear. I worked on dresses, and reworking vintage pieces. I have had a love for Vintage since a very young age. So I think my "needs" and "wants" sort of came together when I wasn't expecting. Since starting my women's line, I was inspired by my niece a few years ago to start a girls line, and just this last year I had my baby girl, and just had to do baby suits! I am obsessed with the mommy and me matching suits! Now I am working on accessories, and possibly tops and dresses.

Does living in California have a significant impact on your swimwear designs?

Yes, I think so! Having nice weather pretty much all year long helps. And there is so much inspiration all around. From the beaches to the Art driven cities, and so many creative people. Its hard not to be inspired.

    10. The newest swimwear philosophy "mix and match" is part of the reason prints have become so popular in recent years. Customers can piece together swimsuit coordinates, pairing solids with prints, mixing complementary patterns or creating a customized color-blocked look. giejo Designer Swimwear

    14. https://www.floraindia.com/flower-delivery/delhi.html The world of Mobile Phone games is filled with mediocrity. I thought that it was impossible to find a game that could compete with a full console or PC game, but then I tried "Game Dev Story"...
