Christmas!

Hello!

Here is a delayed Christmas post... My mum and I made this Christmas dress using lovely festive material. We altered the pattern and it only took us a few hours to complete.

I wore it on Christmas eve to the local shops to do some last minute shopping, the supermarket was so busy that it was difficult to get around with a trolley. I also wore holly on my head which made me feel very festive!

Some good news - I should have my new camera delievered to my door by next week! So that means better quality photos and more outfit posts!

One of Many Birthday Outfits!

Hi again!

Two blog posts in one days because I've haven't blogged here for quite a while!

Here is one of the outfits I wore for my 21st birthday yesterday! This was my tea time outfit!

The is a vintage style dress, I'd say the fabric is vintage! The dress looks like it was home made with a vintage pattern. It's quite bright and very pretty, I love the big tie at the back of the dress.

It was quite windy and the photos were taken on my phone so they photos aren't the best quality!

21!

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the lack of blog posts, I've been quite busy lately (I'm always active on Tumblr though)!

I've finished university and will attend my graduation ceremony early next year and I just turned 21 yesterday! So that's a couple of exciting things... And Christmas is just around the corner!

Here are a few photos from my birthday, expect a few posts featuring some of my gifts!

I wore four different outfits on my birthday because I can be a little over-the-top, but I did have a few different outings throughout the day.

Welcome new followers!

Beautiful flowers from my father!

Busy Bee!

Hi!

I have been a little busy lately... But here is a photo of my outfit yesterday. I just popped down to the post office and supermarket but I felt fabulous.

As you may know my talented mum made me this dress. I'm going to use this pattern again and make a dress using some really sweet cherry print fabric I recently bought!

I'm not enjoying the really hot Sydney weather, I miss winter already!

The Waterfront!

I just want to share some photos of the waterfront where I take my dogs walking quite a lot.

We have a big long pathway to go walking on, lots of people take their dogs here, people use it to go bicycle riding and just have a nice time as it's such a beautiful, peaceful place to be.

The clouds looked so interesting today and got some lovely photos!

Look at Leo having the best time ever!

My latest Sewing Project!

Hi everyone,

Wow three blog posts over two days! You can tell that I have finished university... I completed this dress a couple of days ago. I used a vintage 1950s pattern and vintage fabric!

It's just a simple dress, nothing complicated and a good dress made with light fabric for hot Australian summer days. I could wear it to the beach or to cafes after the beach - it's a simple casual, throw-over dress for the warmer weather.

I'm starting to make something a little more fancier and tailored now though.

I made the version on the right, however, I decided not to put pockets on the dress, maybe next time.

Delicate Little Flowers

Over the last two days I made a vintage inspired floral fascinator.

I've always wanted to have my own 1950s style floral hat/fascinator and after gaining some inspiration online I set off to Lincraft and Spotlight knowing exactly what I wanted!

I was after delicate flowers of various colours, I wanted it to be feminine, pretty, fun and reminiscent of the beautiful floral hats worn by women in the 1950s.

Photos of my Grandma (1950s) - Part 1

Hello everyone!

I am going to share some lovely photos of my Grandma and her friends from the 1950s.

Most of her clothes were homemade, as a lot of women did make their own dresses back in the day.

Grandma was a fun and adventurous young women who loved to go on tours to meet new people and make friends along the way... She adored dresses and pretty things too.

I think we look quite similar!

I'll be posting a series of photos on the blog over time, enjoy!

Grandma looking lovely in a pretty dress!

YSL

Once upon a time...

I went to a local op-shop and found a brand new YSL bustier with high quality metal garter clips and it only cost a magical $15!

I couldn't believe my luck and it is like a dream to wear...

A Peaceful Old House

Hi everyone!

Sorry for the lack of posts... I'm still busy with university! I have one more report to finish and then I am done with university forever!

I have been continuing with my work placement at a local newspaper publication and have had the opportunity to write articles (amongst other various things). I am quite excited as I have been listed as a journalist in the last few newspapers I have worked on.

I've tried to find time for sewing and have started working on a dress using a vintage pattern and fabric and will post photos once I get the chance to finish it.

Here are some photos of myself hanging out in this old house where my father has been working and renovating for his customers. I wanted to get a couple of photos in the kitchen before it gets modernised... I might be able to keep the funky cupboards.

Sewing Plans!

Hi everyone,

Well I've been practicing my sewing, though not as much as I would have liked to recently as university and my work placement has made me incredibly busy! As well as hanging out with my family and boyfriend when I'm not writing essays.

But this is a post to show you some of the patterns I have and/or will arrive in the mail soon. I hope to make these in time and they're all such beautiful, fun vintage patterns.

I already have some vintage fabric I picked up cheap though I'll probably make a trip to spotlight to drool over the many beautiful fabrics they have to offer.

And again, I thank my amazing mum for teaching me how to sew she makes it easier and quicker to learn!

It's true I have the sewing bug... I adore it!

Cake, cake, cake!

Hi again!

I haven't been online much lately due to university and a busy weekend!

I hung out with my dad and we explored areas around my university and went around the city. I'm in my last few weeks of my three year degree and dad thought it was about time we had a look around since he hadn't visted the area in a while.

Firstly dad took me to a cafe for a treat!

I had a yummy (naughty) chocolate-caramel cake with a mango-passionfruit smoothie.
My dad had a sticky date pudding with a Vanilla Latte (not pictured as he was enjoying so much I couldn't get a photo lol).

Second hand Shopping Adventures!

Hi everyone!

I spent the weekend with my mum going to a couple of boot-sales and enjoying the weekend together.

I purchased quite a few great things that I adore!

I bought up these late 1950s/60s lampshades! I think they're gorgeous and they didn't cost me much at all!

Tea Date!

Today my lovely boyfriend Max took me out to a tea shop which is still quite new in my area. There was lovely furniture and pretty floral tea cups all over the shop!  Max knows me so well to take me here!

Vintage books!

Hi everyone,

I love picking up old books, especially ones that feature great cover art... And so this what I want to share in this blog post!

Both of these books were published in the 1950s.

A Sunny Day!

Today was a very sunny day! It is now spring which is quite nice, however I am not looking forward to the hot summer ahead. I much prefer the cold winter weather!

I wore my fun sun hat outside!

My Sewing Adventures!

Hello everyone,

A few months ago my lovely mum (and best friend) started to teach me how to sew. She comes from a long line of tailors and machinists and is really skilled at sewing

I found a great little pattern in an op-shop and made a lovely little high-waisted swimsuit/playsuit in which I intend to make many more for myself!

My lovely little vintage sewing box (top) and the one on the bottom is just a little box I picked up is to keep sewing patterns in!
