A summer dress that I made recently!

Outfit Details -

Dress - Made by me with Butterick Gertie Patterns B6413 (bodice) + B6453 (skirt)
Belt - From another dress
Hat - c/o Unique Vintage
Shoes - I Love Billy

I finished this dress a few weeks ago, it was a combination of two Butterick patterns by Gertie. I bought the patterns on special at Spotlight, the fabric was on clearance at Hobbysew for $7 per metre, I used 3 meters of fabric for the project, I also bought a zip and some green ric-rac (because ric-rac is my favourite).

I found the project to be quite simple, I cut the size 10 but it ended up being way too big in the end but I was treating this project as a wearable draft, I will need to scale it down to size 6-8 next time. I added bra cups to the dress too. I added them as the sizing was too big and I felt like I would have been exposed... I wouldn't want to wear a bra with this dress either as it would show via the cut out on the bodice.

Next time I would like to try the original wiggle dress version and I plan on making b6453 in both wiggle and swing skirt versions, I did actually make the swing version for Christmas but again the sizing was too big so now I know to cut to a smaller size.

I didn't find this dress too challenging to make and really enjoyed it, I can't wait to make these patterns again with the next size down. This dress didn't cost too much to make either, I really love the fabric, it's such a great colour, beautiful cotton and was a bargain. Another important feature is the hidden pockets, one must always add pockets to dresses!

A few days ago my computer started playing up and now it won't turn on... My brother who works in IT and is amazing with technology in general is going to look at it for me this week. Fingers crossed that it isn't a complicated issue.

I have almost fished the other two sewing projects that I have been working on, I can't wait to share them next!
