I always like to see what reproduction vintage clothing is on offer so I was excited to try this dress by Lazybones, their clothing is designed here in Australia and they have great variety to choose from. I wore this outfit to the park and then later on I had to go to the shops, later ditching my sun hat indoors. What I like about this brand is that they have some really great 50's style dresses but they also have a range of boho and loungewear styles - which I also love to wear... Not to mention their fantastic range of homewares.
I chose the Olivia dress as it had a great vintage looking print to it and the sleeves are great for Autumn or when you just want a bit more coverage, the relaxed fit of these sleeves makes it comfortable to wear. I am wearing size xs and the fit is perfect and I found the size chart to be quite accurate. Another reason why I choose this dress? Because I could already imagine how I wanted to style it for it's first outing and I wanted to bring out the pink from the print. Reproduction clothing that has a great vintage feel about it is always something I like to invest in because they are always so timeless and quite appropriate for whatever the occasion and this dress stays quite true to a 50's day dress - it could be styled for a simple and relaxed evening look too.
The weather has suddenly turned cold and I am thankful that I was able to get out and about in some of my new summer outfits that I acquired recently before farewelling them until next summer. It must say that it was really nice to put on a warm jumper, my favourite pair of jeans and a beret yesterday though.
I have been feeling the need to get back into sewing this past month as I can feel my pile of patterns and fabric glaring at me waiting to be made into something special... I will hopefully put aside some time to work on projects very soon.

Oh my word, what an enchantingly sweet, beautiful ensemble - those eye-catchingly lovely vintage gloves very much included. Everything here is cheerful and immensely pretty (plus, how cute is that kookaburra! - Or at least that what I think it is, we don't have them around these Canadian parts. :) ).

This dress really does look more authentically vintage than many repros do - I think your repro industry has overtaken the UK's lately! I wouldn't have thought to style it with pink but it really works!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dress and gorgeous outfit! I love the necklace and gloves you've paired with this. Also, that Kookaburra bird is so cute! Looking forward to seeing more sewing projects once you have them up! :) <3
