A good couple of months ago I featured some of the new season playsuits and a jumpsuit by Voodoo Vixen on the blog, today I'm sharing my favourite dress from this collection. It's elegant, interesting and easy to wear... What more could I ask for?!
Every day off that I've had to wear pretty outfits + shoot them has either involved rain or extreme wind. This particular day was very windy, I lost my hat to the wind a few times even though it was pinned down but the result of this wind, apart from the goosebumps, is that the skirt of the dress looks really pretty with the wind hitting it. It was a really quite a sunny day and I can't help but love when the sun filters through the trees and the leaves, almost leaving a sparkly effect.
This dress does not have a zipper, just an elasticised back and my usual size small for Voodoo Vixen dresses is the perfect fit. The straps are adjustable too, this is always a great feature. It's made of 100% cotton which is just what I need for hot summer days, I can't wait get lots of wear out of this dress when that heat hits. Another thing I love about it is that it can be dressed up or down, it would look great with flats and a simple hair scarf too. I don't think you can go wrong with a red dress like this but add embroidery and I'm sold, the Scarlett dress is the perfect summer dress for those who like a bit of extra detail and a great fit.
I love this black cardigan with the dress too, this outfit looks more 40's style with it on and 50's style with it off but either way they go really well together and I can fight the chilly weather with my cardi (+ a coat too).
I spent most of today taking photos for a post which will hit the blog next week, I still have a few more to do tomorrow but it's coming along quite well. I can finally catch up on reading blog posts soon across the next two evenings but I could honestly take a nap right now, I'm so sleepy! But saying that, I would really love to get into my sewing room and finish off my dress before the weekend is gone again.

It's nice seeing this dress styled more for Winter, I love that hat with it. I've seen it on other bloggers styled more for Spring/summer but I think it really does work across the seasons. Very versatile! x
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous dress Kayla, love the black detailing on the red dress! That black hat looks amazing with this dress, shame the wind was blowing it off you head though! xo
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, this dress is gorgeous! The pictures are amazing as well :) You look great like always! A little tip for hats and wind: Sew a bit of fabric or elastic in a circle on the inside, so you can secure it with bobbypins!
ReplyDeleteI adore red and back together and it's a combo that really suits you. The dress is stunning! Kx
ReplyDeleteI'm totally biased to red because of my hair, but there's few colour combinations that look as striking as red and black! You look fabulous!
