Hello January!

My first outfit of 2017 on the blog today!

Eclipse Earrings - c/o Revere Folie
1950's Gloves - Thrifted
Vintage Purse and Brooch - Boot Sale
Shoes - Miss L Fire

To kick off my first outfit on the blog for 2017 I decided to go for a more polished look which is a little different to my laid back retro beach style. Every now and again I like to go all out with an outfit complete with gloves and I am finally trying a pill box hat after wanting one for quite a while now.

When I saw this dress on the Unique Vintage website my jaw dropped as I loved the elegant 1940's design, the gorgeous lace collar & sleeves and of course the open back which is such an unexpected addition to this dress. I thought it would look great with a hat like this and my hair all neat and pinned into place... I'm working on my updos, I always struggle with my thick hair but I liked how this simple hairstyle turned out, I loved it even more with this hat too. Updos are an essential for hot weather so I will keep practicing. This dress is great for a casual look as well, next time I'll wear it with my hair down and a pair of flats or kitten heels. As usual I went with my regular size small in Unique Vintage brand clothing and the sizing is spot on. This dress can be styled for all seasons, I look forward to wearing it with stockings and a coat during Autumn and Winter.

After having a relaxed week of going to the beach and lounging around the house during the Christmas holidays it was great to doll myself up to start the year off with this look. Due to a heat wave most of last week I didn't do any hair sets as we would go to the beach most afternoons for a swim anyway. The last few days have been a bit cooler and a bit more normal, I always welcome these days with open arms after continuous stinking hot days! The best thing about those hot days is how amazing the water feels when you finally get a chance to go to the beach, it's refreshing and just so peaceful once you dive in.

I have a few more outfits that I took towards the end of 2016 which will be featured on the blog this month but I am excited for another year of blogging! Wishing you all a great year! I have to get used to writing 2017 now...

  1. Happy New Year Kayla! What a darling little dress, the lace sleeves are just gorgeous. No wonder you fell for it! I'm loving the sound of your beach days, it's been really misty and damp here. Lots of cosy nights in with DVDs. Looking forward to more of your outfit posts in 2017! x

  5. That dress is really unusual for repro! You don't normally see lace combined like that, but it's rather lovely. Enjoying the more polished style on you, very fetching! x

  9. An off-shoulder red dress is both trendy and perfect for showcasing some skin in the warm weather. The off-shoulder style adds a touch of elegance to the outfit.
