Tapestry Dress at the Gardens

A trip to the gardens in a dress that I have wanted in my wardrobe for so long!

A couple of weeks ago I took a trip to one of my favourite gardens with my friend Renee, we had a walk around the huge parklands, checked out the different garden themes, snapped some photos and then stopped at the cafe for a coffee before leaving. The gardens were looking great this visit, last time we went was early summer and the harsh conditions took it's toll on most of the flowers.

I've always loved vintage tapestry purses and have a few in my collection, I visited the Retrospec'd store in Newtown a few years ago and I saw this gorgeous dress. I loved it but ended up buying one in the same cut with a different print... I only allowed myself one dress that particular day but every now and again I would think about that beautiful tapestry print.

To my luck it poppped up on eBay a couple of months ago and it was only $28, my size too (does happy dance)! There is something so satisfying about finding your unicorn with the added bonus of grabbing bargain.

Retrospec'd is one of my favourite repro brands and it's made here in Australia too! I've added quite a few dresses by this brand to my wardrobe over the years, I have my eye on a few of their new releases too. I wore some of my favourite thrifted accessories with this dress including this hat which is one of my favourites and it only cost me $2 a year or two ago.

It's another hot and humid weekend, my dogs get lots of cool downs out the back with the hose or in the shower to keep them happy, they will need another haircut soon so I'll probably try and do that next week... Occasionally the cats need to be cooled down as well. I always try to put out containers of water for the wildlife too as these conditions can be so stressful on us all!

I'm still so excited to have this dress, it's finally mine yay!

  4. Beautiful dress, what a lovely fit on you. I like the shoes too! Those gardens are wonderful, I've never seen a sort of raised pond like the one you're sitting next to. You're honestly making me yearn for warmer weather, it's eternally grey and misty here, no bare skin on sight for a few months yet I fear! xx
