New Dress, Old Coat

Sunday 17 July 2016

A wonderful new 40's dress to add to my wardrobe and one of my favourite coats that I have now had for a few years now... Technically not old but you get what I mean ha.

The Seamstress of Bloomsbury Mae Dress + Brooch - c/o Rock n Romance
Anastasia Coat (discontinued) - Collectif
Shoes - Poetic Licence

Last week I wore the gorgeous Mae dress underneath my Collectif coat. I was really excited to wear this dress out as I love the colour and the fabulous buttons. I couldn't wait to wear this coat again too as it is one of my favourites and it was pretty cold this particular day - I loved the fact that the cape is detachable.

My dress got a little wrinkled as I was rugged up for a while before heading out for a walk + photos but it still looked really cute and held it's shape. I have sized up to size 10 in this brand as I had trouble with the buttons and general bust area being too tight and I am really happy with how my new dresses have been fitting now... The waist is a little bit big but I just tie it in with the belts that are included with the dresses (as I do with most dresses as I like to nip the waist in anyway). As I have mentioned in past posts, if you are unsure about sizing I highly suggest talking to the team at Rock n Romance as they know the brand and sizing really well if you are ever unsure.

I'm keeping this blog post short and sweet as I am in the middle of moving house.. Max and I are finally moving in together and we are very excited. Today we bought new computer desks and have been setting up the house with the help of our wonderful family... My weekend was not very glamorous as it was spent in my practical moving gear for lifting furniture and what not. Anyway, I hope to share a few little snaps of the place once we settle in.

I hope everyone has a good week. I am looking forward to catching up on reading blog posts as I am a little behind, so once I am settled in I will grab a cup of tea and do just that.

  1. Love the new dress! The details are really beautiful - the pleating on the sleeves, the pretty faceted buttons, the white at the placket and the collar. I've really liked all of the things that I've seen from Seamstress of Bloomsbury, seems like a great company.

  2. Awesomely elegant chilly weather look. That dress is such a classic, sweet piece. I especially love the volume in the sleeves and the colour itself (any member of the burgundy/garnet/maroon family is an epic favorite of mine - we even painted the walls of our master bedroom in this house burgundy).

And speaking of houses, how exciting that you're in the midst of moving. I really hope that everything goes smoothly with it for you, honey. Huge congrats on you and max moving in together!

  3. Oh that dress is beautiful and the colour really suits you. I love that you've teamed it with mustard shoes too, very good choice. I really should look at repro stores a bit more as I always miss things like this. The majority of my clothes are either made by me or are true vintage so I completely forget about repro brands! xx

  9. Summer months bring much less requirement for a coat. More often than not, a light cardigan will do. Notwithstanding, a late spring coat is helpful to have around, particularly around evening time when it gets somewhat nippy. visit this page

  11. Another coat you may want to invest in is the rain coat. The rain coat is water proof and is usually made of vinyl. This vinyl material keeps you dry, makes it much more awkward to wear on a normal sunny day. Leslie Jean Designs
